Fire Cadets Voice Forum

What is the Fire Cadets Voice Forum?

The Fire Cadets Voice Forum is a group of Fire Cadets coming together from different fire and rescue services to focus on issues affecting young people, their units, their services, and their communities, to share ideas, opinions and attitudes that reflect Fire Cadets and young people locally and nationally.

The purpose of the group is to ensure that Fire Cadets are involved in the development and delivery of UK Fire Cadets.

Key Objectives

  • To promote active youth participation
  • Support fire and rescue services to develop local youth participation opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve engagement with young people

Participation gives young people the opportunity to have a say in matters that affect them, supporting their Article 12 right from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC):

“children and young people have the right to be listened to and taken seriously in matters affecting them.”

Where relevant, UKFC Voice Forum members will attend events such as:

  • UKFC Board Meetings
  • UKFC Networking Meetings
  • Project Planning
  • Staff meetings

UKFC Voice Forum members may also have the opportunity to represent UKFC at other regional, national and international events, particularly around youth participation.
