Social Action

Learn how Fire Cadets support their wider communities

Fire Cadets play an active role in their local communities through a range of social action activities which aim to build their understanding of and connection to their community.  This can include volunteering, fundraising, putting on or taking part in a community event, or simple neighbourly acts, and can improve young people’s confidence and skills.

Social action activities are a key part of the UK Fire Cadets syllabus, with Fire Cadets required to participate in at least three social action activities within both Fire Cadet Award One and Award Two.  At a basic level this may involve participating in local community events including fire station open days.  However, as cadets gain more skills and experience they may organise and deliver their own social action events.
